Knee Knacker Update – May 7th 2024
Hello Knee Knacker Runners!
With just over 2 months until race day, things are movin’ and shakin’ at Knee Knacker central. I’ll send a few emails over the coming months, but you can find key info on this website and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest on FB/Insta.
For those of you who are new to Knee Knacker – welcome! We are so glad to have you join our community. For those who have been coming back year after year – thank you, thank you. We know there are many great races out there and it warms my heart that this community is so vibrant. This is a special year – our 35th! We have some big milestones to celebrate and are hoping that many of you will join us at our Party in the Park post run.
For now… there are 4 key things for you to know this month… Runners’ Night, Training Runs, Fundraising and Volunteers…
- Runners’ Night this Thursday, May 9th– Doors @6pm, Special Guest Panel @6:30pm
A big thanks to Forerunners North Shore for hosting! Runners’ night is open to all (with capacity limit at the door), there will be extra discounts, and we have a fantastic panel line up. Come join us as we dive into practical tips and tricks, stories with hard lessons learned, and exhilarating moments on the trail. Bring your questions!
- Training Runs – Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings have started!
It’s that time again to connect with our Knee Knacker community through our weekly training runs. Everyone is welcome (you don’t need to be in Knee Knacker) and they’re free. My continued thanks goes to Glenn Pace, Owen Hope + Patricia Jensen for leading the Sunday runs and to Ran Katzman for leading the Wednesday runs.
- Fundraising – It’s On!
We are grateful for the fundraising efforts that our community does in support of North Shore Rescue (NSR). Over the years, the Knee Knacker has raised/donated over $125,000 to various organizations and we believe so strongly in this that each year we allocate one GUARANTEED entry to the top fundraiser.
Please consider setting up a fundraising page or donating directly to this great cause.
- Volunteers – We love our volunteers!
We are so fortunate to have the best volunteers. Really. Though our spots usually fill up quickly, we still have some key roles available so if you have family or friends that would like to volunteer, please send them to our volunteer sign up page. Thank you.
As I mention volunteers, a big shout-out of thanks to our Committee who continues to orchestrate an incredible amount behind the scenes. We have added a few committee members this year as we plan for the future and the energy and excitement for our community is high. This fantastic crew manages to balance full time jobs, family, friends, hobbies and all that life entails in addition to really significant time commitments with Knee Knacker. My continued and very sincere thanks.
I look forward to seeing you at Runners’ Night, at the Training Runs and on the trails. Please reach out to me anytime – I love hearing how training is going and sharing the anticipation of the day.
Happy Training,
Kelsy.
