Knee Knacker 2021 Cancellation
Hi Knee Knacker Community,
I miss you! Here’s hoping you and your loved ones are keeping well.
This is the message I didn’t want to write (again!?!), but I suspect nobody will be surprised to receive. We have made the difficult decision to cancel Knee Knacker for 2021. We thought long and hard, debated many different angles and possible paths forward, and considered holding off on communicating in the hopes that the next month would show significant improvement. Ultimately, our decision was clear.
Looking towards next year, we will plan to have an amazing event with a full roster of runners on July 9, 2022. Everyone who is currently entered in Knee Knacker will automatically be carried over to either 2022 or 2023. There will be no additional cost and you can select the year you prefer. We realize these are unusual times so if you would like to withdraw your entry and get a 100% refund, reach out to me directly by May 31st, 2021.
Early next year, when we have a higher degree of confidence we can go forward, we’ll ask you to opt in to 2022 or 2023. At this point, we also hope that we can open up lottery entries to fill out the spots where runners have opted for 2023. This is to give those who aren’t currently entered in Knee Knacker a bit of optimism too. We’ll give lots of notice, so there is no need to do anything now.
To everyone who makes Knee Knacker what it is, thank you. It takes a village. We are grateful for our incredible partnership with North Shore Rescue who keep us safe, our permitting partners who understand how important this community event is and keep working with us to find a path forward, our sponsors who keep showing up in support even in trying times, and our volunteers who create the magic of Knee Knacker behind the scenes and on race day.
I also want to give a heartfelt thank you to our Knee Knacker Committee. You are the best.
We will be in touch over the coming months and will keep you posted on our plans.
I look forward to seeing you on the trails.
Kelsy Trigg
Race Director.
