Trail elves needed for Baden Powell trail work in Cypress Park
Calling on trail elves to help improve the Baden Powell Trail in the Black Mountain area of Cypress Provincial Park!
Since 2011, Knee Knacker has worked in partnership with BC Parks and The Friends of Cypress Provincial Park to improve the Baden Powell Trail in the Black Mountain and Hollyburn areas. (Those boardwalks that you ran on from the top of Black Mountain? All built by you!) This year, we’re continuing our joint efforts by finishing a project that we started in 2015 and making other improvements.
We need four volunteers for each of these work dates:
- August 21 (RSVP by August 18) – Update, the August 21st crew is full, thanks!
- September 11 (RSVP by September 8)
- September 18 (RSVP by September 15)
Each Trail Day is a full day from 9am-4pm.
You don’t need any special skills but you should be able to do some moderate lifting. All tools and materials are provided so you don’t need to bring your stash of gardening tools!
This is an excellent chance to learn about trail work, what it takes to keep things in tip-top shape, and how to protect the environment. You’ll also get some upper body work to complement your running and there’s a fun ride to the top of the Black Mountain chairlift. (You ride in a truck, not the lift!)
To sign up for any (or all) of the work days, email Andrew at trailday [at] kneeknacker.com
Thanks, and I hope to see you out there!
Andrew Wong,
Knee Knacker Trail Day Co-ordinator (emeritus)
