May 31 training run photos – Flying through the ferns
The May 31st training run went through the new Memorial Connector Trail section of the Baden Powell Trail, just off Indian River Drive. Spending time there while waiting for the runners made me appreciate the efforts of the trail builders. It was also obvious that the route was well thought out and considered as it weaved through several beautiful sections of dense fern “meadows”, as you’ll see in the photo album. The beauty of the new section also seemed to influence the runners, with several of them flying through the straightaways. Enjoy.
(Wait, that’s not a photograph of ferns illustrating this post! It’s Glenn giving the training run briefing at Cleveland Dam. As many of you know, the briefing is an important of every training run. It’s when the run co-ordinator shares his or her knowledge and experience with the group. Where are you in your nutrition? Do you know today’s route? If you’re new on this section, do you have a run buddy? This is how you should approach today’s run based on the length and effort. All good stuff, not to be missed. It’s how we, as a community, support each other.)
