Trail elves needed for Black Mountain trail project
We’re calling on trail elves to help tackle an ambitious project in the Black Mountain area of Cypress Provincial Park.
Since 2011, Knee Knacker has had a successful partnership with BC Parks, the Friends of Cypress Provincial Park, and the North Shore Wetland Partners. We’ve worked together to make lots of trail improvements in the Black Mountain and Hollyburn areas. (Those boardwalks that you see in the helicopter flyover video? All built by you.)
This year, we’ll be building boardwalks, a deck, and a set of stairs over a 1km stretch of the Baden Powell Trail. There’s so much work that we need four or more days in August and September to do everything:
- August 15 – Staging supplies, need 4 volunteers (RSVP by August 12)
- September 12 or 13 – Construction, need 3 to 8 volunteers (RSVP by August 27 & indicate which day you prefer)
- September 19 or 20 – Construction, need 3 to 8 volunteers (RSVP by August 27 & indicate which day you prefer)
- September 26 or 27 – Construction, need 3 to 8 volunteers (RSVP by August 27 & indicate which day you prefer)
The August 15 work day is just a morning shift (half-day). All the September days are full work days about 8-hours long. The September work dates aren’t confirmed–once everyone is signed up, we’ll choose the dates that give us the largest teams.
You don’t need any special skills but you should be able to do some moderate lifting. (Think of this trail work as giving you some weight training to complement your running.)
