“There you were climbing to Eagle Bluffs beaming with pride despite the bloody knees, bandaged and taped limbs and sporting some awful wasp stings! The intensity of the front runners and the friendly supporting camaraderie of all the runners was a privilege to see. Looking through the camera lens you could see the tiredness and effort that was exerted to get up to the Bluffs and I could only wonder if they comprehended that they still had a marathon left to go!  WAY TO GO TRAIL RUNNERS!!”  …John de Swardt, photographer

John de Swardt was the second photographer who started hiking to Eagle Bluffs before the crack of dawn to capture the runners during the steepest climb of the race .  His race day photos from Eagle Bluffs can be found in this photo album.
