Jay Piggott – North Shore Rescue
Some of you may know Jay Piggott.
You may have even seen him on Knee Knacker race day…not as a runner, but as a volunteer with North Shore Rescue. He would get around to several locations during the course of the event, so you may have seen him in multiple places on the same day.
Jay works as a paramedic for the BC Ambulance Service, as well volunteering as a medic with North Shore Rescue. Recently, Jay has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. The treatment will likely take the better part of a year, and leave him unable to work. Since he is classified as a “part-time” medic, he doesn’t qualify for benefits or sick days. As a husband with two young children, you can imagine the stress and financial burden that he & his family have been dealt.
To that end, North Shore Rescue has set up a “Rescue the Rescuer” crowd funding campaign to assist Jay and his family as they go through this battle. If you would like to help out, please visit North Shore Rescue’s website at Rescue The Rescuer Press Release – North Shore Rescue – Vancouver Search and Rescue Team.
We wish Jay all our best for a speedy recovery & look forward to seeing him back in action.
