“At nearly ¾ of the way through the course, the expressions on runners faces were starkly different to those seen at the ¼ mark. Although almost all cracked smiles at the well stocked aid station, there were many faces of pain that provided glimpses into the tough challenges already overcome. Thankfully, Mountain Highway is in the middle of a nice downhill section and a bit of a respite from up and down technical terrain on the Grouse section of the BP. As the flow of athletes became steadier, a band began to form. Frank Wimberley and Co. regaled runners with the sounds of drums and Scottish bagpipe tunes, calling them in from far up the trail to keep the pace and forge onwards across Seymour and to the finish.” …Nathan Starzynski, photographer
