She Said — June 2 trail run report
What a beautiful morning! We were greeted with blue skies and glorious sunshine while gathering in the parking lot at Panorama Park.
Over 60 runners organized themselves into cars and carpooled over to Cleveland Dam. Before leaving, we mentioned our Trail Maintenance Day which is on Saturday, June 8. We need 20-30 volunteers to help. No experience necessary. Be ready to get muddy and to have a lot of fun. We will be working on a section of the Baden Powell Trail just above Hyannis. This is a great way to get your four hours of volunteer time! Just email Andrew if you’re interested. Oh, did I mention that Delany’s will be supplying coffee and goodies?
Once at Cleveland, groups headed up the beloved Nancy Green Way. I noticed Glenn toting his beloved coffee while setting off for his run. It is amazing how he is able to keep that coffee in his cup while running!
Trail conditions were good, despite the major downpours of last week. One lesson I learned this week is to not look up on a technical section and yell out directions to another runner who is off course. A nasty ankle twist later, I had to walk with my friend Scott Riddell to work out the pain. You are on your own next time. I owe a beer to someone who helped me up…. Please let me know at our banquet!
Another thing worth mentioning…. the people traffic on the last section of the Baden Powell. We did quite a bit of “dodging” through this section, but everyone was great moving out of the way.
We hope that you all enjoyed your run today. Next week, it is a big one–we are meeting in Deep Cove at 7:30 am and running to the St. George’s Bench and then returning. So get plenty of rest the day before, eat healthy, and hydrate well.
