2024 Race Results/Summary
Congrats to all starters/finishers in the 2024 Knee Knackering North Shore Trail Run. Results are now available in 2 formats:
A few additional statistics/observations/comments:
- 195 starters, 176 finishers
- Finishing percentage is an excellent 90.3%, which is slightly lower than the historical all-time average of 93.3%.
- 111 first-time finishers, or 63.1% of all finishers. This is much higher than the historical average of ~50%, and is an all-time high. This continues the post-COVID trend of more first-timers each year.
- Of the remaining 65 veteran finishers, 12 set Personal Bests
- Median finishing time was 7:58:36. This is the highest ever, other than the Original 8 group run in 1989. It eclipses the previous high of 7:52:38 set in 2017.
- Was the hot, muggy weather a factor? It appears so based on some of the observations above. For the record, we use the 2pm temperature at West Vancouver station. This year, it was 25C which is the 3rd warmest behind 29C in 2014 and 27C in 2017.
- Brandon Gardiner was overall male winner for a third consecutive year with a winning time of 4:55:37.
- Jessie Collison was overall female winner, with a winning time of 6:02:40. Jessie also finished 10th overall in her first-ever Knee Knacker attempt!
- Ean Jackson finished the race for his 30th time, becoming the first runner to reach this significant milestone.
- Peter Findlay finished the race for his 25th time, joining only 5 others who have previously accomplished this amazing feat.
- Doug Brown completed the race for his 10th time, joining 70 others who have previously achieved this milestone.
- At the Awards Ceremony, we paid tribute to a few committee members who are “retiring” after this year’s race:
- Bev McKenna
- Jeff Trigg
- Kelsy Trigg, who passed on the Race Director reigns to Kim Magnus after 20 years at the helm.
- Mark down Saturday July 12, 2025 in your calendars for the 35th Knee Knackering North Shore Trail Run! Lottery entry will open in December 2024.
