Sponsor profile: Movéo keeps you moving
About seven weeks to go and some big miles to put in still. This is the point in most people’s training plan at which some little niggles start to show up. Let’s face it, race day is easy. It’s the training that’ll KNACKER ya. So before you’re too knackered, get in to see our sponsor and finish line recovery crew at Movéo Sport & Rehabilitation Centre.
Injury is not a fact of ultrarunning but your body sure does get stressed in ways you never imagined. Movéo offers chiropractic, massage therapy, physiotherapy and acupuncture and this may be exactly what you need to keep things strong and healthy.
A couple weeks ago, I caught up with Movéo’s owner, Jenn Turner, and she proudly started a list of the clinic’s accomplishments. She told me that “on any given day at Movéo you could run into professional or Olympic athletes, and members of the 2012 and 2008 Olympic cycling (road/track and BMX) teams use Movéo. We also help many local and professional trail running athletes and other competitive and recreational athletes of all ages.”
Jenn went on to say that the staff at Movéo have tons of experience working with different types of athletes and lots of events, such as the BC bike race, many local trail and road races, triathlons and the Olympic games. She said, “many of our staff are accomplished athletes themselves. Physiotherapist Amanda Sin, for example, just retired from professional mountain biking and was in the pool to compete at the 2012 Olympic games.” (Jenn herself holds Knee Knacker fairly close as she finished it in 2011 as her first ultra in 6:59. Her background in long distance triathlon certainly didn’t hurt her when it came to preparing for the Knee Knacker.)
Movéo just relocated to a brand new facility a few blocks from its original location. They are now located at 1133 Lonsdale Avenue, and have expanded their team and facility to accommodate their clients!
Don’t let those injuries fester. Get on them right away to make sure they’re treated properly to go away for good. Happy training!
