(May 13 training run report by Patricia Jensen)
Well folks, we had a great turn out last Sunday morning with over 75 runners eager to hit the trails. Thanks Dave for counting heads for me!
After explaining the route for the day, I asked everyone to keep an eye on those who had not been on this section of the Baden Powell before. I hope that all arrived back safely!
Coming back on the BP after Mountain Highway has always confused me. I pointed out that numerous mountain trails cross the BP in this area, and to watch for the BP markers. Later, I would eat my words, as I did the very thing that I said not to do: veer off the trail in this section! I saw a lovely bridge when I was on this side adventure though!
You could not ask for nicer weather in May: beautiful sun and just the right temperature. Not only that, but the mud had almost disappeared, and everyone was in great spirits as we took off just after 8:00 am.
During the first part of my run, I was fortunate to meet Dave and Phil. This is Dave’s first time doing the Knee Knacker. Phil on the other hand was just out for moral support. How wonderful it must be to have a brother-in-law that you not only get along with, but enjoy running together as well!
I hope that everyone had a great morning in the trails. I was sipping my coffee in the parking lot when I saw a number of runners with big smiles on their faces come out of the trail.
Next week, we will be meeting at Grouse Mountain parking lot. Our route will be BP to Mountain Hwy. and then up to the top of the mountain via the back gravel road.
Be prepared for this run:
- water/energy drink
- food
- a jacket/hat/mittens if weather is poor or to wear down the gondola
- money ($10) to purchase a ticket to go down the gondola…. unless you choose to go down BCMC
Please check the website this week just to be sure there are no changes to our run.
Have a wonderful week.
