Welcome New Knee Knacker Race Director Kim Magnus!
As it’s been a month since Knee Knacker, it’s time for me to write my ‘thank you’ note, however I’m finding that the words aren’t flowing, just happy tears. It’s been an opportunity of a lifetime and an absolute privilege to have shepherded this run for the last 20 years. I am filled with gratitude and joy and I am aware of just how lucky I am. Thank you Enzo, for taking a chance on me so long ago, and thank you Knee Knacker community for showing up year after year to create something very special together. Thank you, previous and current committee members who were my trusted advisors and worked so very hard for our community. The part I cherish the most are the friendships and memories we made. Thank you, Jeff for being on this trail with me every single step of the way.
I want to take this opportunity to officially welcome Kim Magnus as Knee Knacker Race Director. I couldn’t be more excited for her and the future of our run; there is energy and excitement within the committee, with a great blend of experienced and new team members. Kim and I have spent the last 9 months working together behind the scenes, and I’ve loved getting to know her even better. Kim brings a beautiful balance of respect for the history of the race, a steady sensibility that we can’t take ourselves too seriously, and an openness for new ideas and innovation. Kim is very humble and leads with her love of the trails and community, underplaying her impressive athletic accomplishments which include competing at the Trail World Championships and winning the overall women’s Knee Knacker title.
Kim has been involved with Knee Knacker since 2013 – running, volunteering as a pre-sweep, and joining our committee this year. She has a genuine love for the sport and the people it brings together and believes that the trails are where true friendships are formed, problems are solved, and ideas come to life.
I am thrilled for our community that Kim has accepted the reins as Race Director. She is the perfect person to lead the Knee Knacker and our community into the future. Please join me in welcoming Kim!
Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you on the trails,
Kelsy
