Updates – May 21
Hello fellow trail runners!
I hope your training’s going well and you’re finding your Knee Knacker training groove. Please note the change below to this week’s training run.
TRAINING RUNS
Training runs are now underway and we’ve had a great turn-out so far. It’s always fun to see everyone out, pushing themselves and enjoying the journey towards the start line.
Important Note — This week, Sunday, May 24th, we’ll be meeting in DEEP COVE to shuttle to Cleveland Dam and do the last 1/2. Official meeting time is 8:00am, but please get there early to ensure everyone gets rides sorted and on their way. This is due to another race, next week, that is starting at Grouse and going along a similar route.
Next week, May 31st, we’ll meet at Cleveland Dam at 7:30am to go towards Cypress. (Note earlier start time next week). Please bring an extra layer – it may be chilly as we get up towards Cypress.
VOLUNTEERS
Without our volunteers, we wouldn’t have our run. We have over 1 volunteer for every runner, and still have some very key positions open. Please encourage your friends and family members to come out and support you and the other runners through volunteering. Check out the Volunteer Program for more info.
TRAIL WORK PARTY
Trail Day is Saturday, May 30th at 8:45am. This year’s Knee Knacker Trail Work Party will be along the Baden-Powell Trail in North Vancouver. The exact location is currently a closely guarded secret (well, ok, we actually just don’t know yet), but we’ll announce it as soon as we do. Once again, we’ll be working under the guidance of North Vancouver District Trail and Habitat Coordinator Graham Knell. We’ll be ready to go about 9:00am, but please come early. Many volunteers make for light work so we hope you can come out to help for a few hours. There will be coffee and treats from Delaney’s Coffee. No special skills required, and all tools will be supplied by the District.
To volunteer for Trail Day, please email our Volunteer Co-ordinator by Wednesday, May 27th. You can come and help at the last minute, but an early reply will help us plan for the goodies and organize the amount of work we can do on the trail. Hope to see you there… Andrew Wong, and Craig Moore – Knee Knacker 2009 Trail Work Party Co-ordinators.
KNEE KNACKER SUPPLIES
Do you have some extra storage space? A garage or basement that can house our Knee Knacker supplies? We need to find our banners, containers and signs a new home and we would love (and need!) to hear from you. Please email me at rd@kneeknacker.com or via our feedback form.
WEBSITE
We are excited to announce that we will be launching our new site in the next month. Look for a clean, fresh look and feel, and over time, more streamlined and interactive content.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me or any of the 2009 Committee Members. We appreciate your feedback, thoughts and comments.
I look forward to seeing you on the trails,
Kelsy Trigg
